There is welcome news for crores of salaried employees across India. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to begin crediting 8.25% interest for the financial year 2025-26 into the Provident Fund (PF) accounts of nearly 8 crore subscribers. With the Ministry of Finance approving the interest rate, the transfer process is expected to start soon.
Adding to the relief, EPFO has upgraded its digital infrastructure, allowing PF interest to be credited much faster than in previous years.
EPFO to Credit 8.25% Interest Soon
The EPFO's Central Board of Trustees (CBT) approved an 8.25% interest rate for FY 2025-26 in March, and the Ministry of Finance has now given its final approval. Following the clearance, EPFO has instructed all regional offices to begin the process of crediting interest into subscribers' PF accounts.
This move will benefit nearly 8 crore EPFO members across the country.
Why Will Interest Be Credited Faster This Year?
In previous years, PF subscribers often had to wait several months for interest to reflect in their accounts. However, EPFO has recently completed a major software upgrade and database integration exercise.
The upgraded system is expected to:
Speed up interest credit processing
Reduce delays in account updates
Improve overall digital services for PF members
Make PF transactions more efficient and transparent
