Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), one of India's leading defence electronics manufacturers, has announced its financial results for the second quarter of FY2026-27. The defence public sector undertaking (PSU) reported a strong increase in both profit and revenue, supported by higher business activity and demand for defence electronics.
BEL's consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) increased by 19.8% year-on-year to ₹1,541 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹1,286 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Revenue from operations rose 26.5% to ₹7,291 crore, against ₹5,764 crore in Q2 FY26.
The company also reported growth in EBITDA, although its operating margin declined compared with the year-ago quarter. The results were announced after market hours on Friday, October 30, 2026.
BEL Q2 Results: Key Financial Highlights
BEL delivered healthy year-on-year growth across its major financial parameters during the July-September quarter.
Net profit: ₹1,541 crore, up 19.8% year-on-year.
Revenue from operations: ₹7,291 crore, up 26.5%.
EBITDA: Approximately ₹2,040 crore, up around 20.3% year-on-year.
EBITDA margin: 28%, compared with 29.4% in the corresponding quarter last year.
Profit before tax: ₹2,064 crore, compared with ₹1,734 crore a year earlier.
The numbers show that BEL maintained strong revenue growth and improved profitability. However, the decline in EBITDA margin indicates some moderation in operating profitability.
BEL's First-Half FY27 Performance
The company also reported healthy growth during the first six months of FY27.
BEL's revenue from operations increased 25.97% year-on-year to ₹12,824 crore in the April-September period, compared with ₹10,180 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Profit before tax rose 14.65% to ₹3,467 crore, while first-half profit after tax increased 14.81% to ₹2,589 crore, compared with ₹2,255 crore in the first half of FY26.
BEL's order book stood at ₹68,717 crore as of October 1, 2026. This provides visibility into the company's existing project pipeline and future execution opportunities.
BEL Share Price: Stock Has Fallen From Its Recent Peak
BEL shares have faced selling pressure in recent months despite the company's long-term growth record.
According to the price levels provided, the stock had reached approximately ₹473 in March but was trading around ₹370 ahead of the Q2 results announcement. Its closing price before the results was ₹369.90, representing a slight decline during Friday's trading session.
The recent correction has drawn attention to the stock's valuation and future earnings prospects. Investors will be watching whether strong revenue growth, order inflows and execution can support a recovery in the share price.
However, quarterly earnings alone do not determine the direction of a stock. Market sentiment, valuations, execution risks and broader movements in defence shares can also influence performance.
Why Is BEL Important to India's Defence Sector?
Established in 1954, Bharat Electronics Limited is a Navratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence. The company manufactures and supplies electronic equipment and systems for India's armed forces.
Its product portfolio includes radars, communication systems, electronic warfare equipment, avionics, naval electronics and other defence-related technologies.
BEL also has an important role in India's BrahMos missile ecosystem through its defence electronics and associated subsystems. It is important to distinguish this role from manufacturing the complete BrahMos missile, which is a separate programme involving specialised partners.
The company's presence across multiple defence platforms and programmes makes it an important participant in India's domestic defence manufacturing and indigenisation efforts.
What Should Investors Watch After BEL Q2 Results?
BEL's latest financial performance highlights strong growth in revenue and profit. Nevertheless, the decline in EBITDA margin is an important factor for investors to monitor.
Some key factors to watch include:
Order execution: Whether BEL can convert its substantial order book into revenue and cash flows.
New defence contracts: Fresh orders from the Indian armed forces and other government agencies.
Operating margins: Whether margins recover or remain under pressure in upcoming quarters.
Defence spending: Government expenditure and the pace of domestic defence procurement.
Stock valuation: Whether the current share price adequately reflects the company's growth prospects.
