Mukesh Ambani-led Jio Platforms' much-awaited IPO is creating strong buzz in the grey market ahead of its expected October 21 opening. The latest unofficial grey market premium (GMP) is being quoted at around ₹158 per share, indicating strong investor interest ahead of the public issue.

The Jio IPO GMP is currently around ₹158, according to market-tracking sources. If this premium were to hold and the IPO is eventually priced within the reported price-band range, it could point to a potentially positive listing.

However, investors should remember that GMP is an unofficial market indicator and does not guarantee the actual listing price or profit. The premium can change significantly before listing depending on market sentiment, subscription demand and broader market conditions.

Jio IPO Date: When Will the IPO Open?

Jio Platforms is expected to open its IPO for subscription on October 21, 2026, with the issue likely to close on October 23. The shares are expected to list on the stock exchanges on October 28, according to reports citing people familiar with the plans.

The company is reportedly targeting an issue size of around $3.8 billion, which would make it India's biggest IPO if completed at that size.

Jio IPO Price Band: What Are Reports Saying?

According to recent reports, Jio Platforms could set its IPO price band in the range of ₹1,150 to ₹1,220 per share. The company is expected to file its Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) after October 12, with the final IPO details to be confirmed through the official offer documents.

Therefore, investors should not treat ₹1,150–₹1,220 as the final issue price until Jio Platforms officially announces the price band.

Jio IPO Could Become India's Biggest IPO

The proposed Jio Platforms IPO is expected to raise approximately $3.8 billion. If completed as reported, it would surpass Hyundai Motor India's $2.9 billion IPO in 2024 and become India's largest-ever public issue.

Jio Platforms is the digital services arm of Reliance Industries and has businesses spanning telecom, digital services, AI, cloud and enterprise networking.

IPO Wave Continues in India

The Jio IPO comes amid a strong fundraising wave in India's primary market. According to PRIME Database data cited by Reuters, nearly 250 companies are in the IPO pipeline, with plans to raise a combined ₹4.65 trillion ($48 billion).

Indian companies raised a record ₹2.43 trillion ($25.27 billion) through equity markets during the first half of FY2027, according to PRIME Database data cited by Reuters.
