Jio Platforms shares have drawn significant investor attention following their stock market debut on October 28, 2026. After listing at approximately ₹1,358–₹1,359 per share against an IPO issue price of ₹1,119, the company is now in focus as investors assess its valuation, growth prospects and future share-price performance.
International brokerage Nomura has initiated coverage on Jio Platforms with a Buy rating and a target price of ₹1,340 per share. Although the target represents a gain of around 19.7% over the IPO issue price, it is approximately 1.3% below the reported listing price of ₹1,358.
This difference highlights an important distinction between investors who received shares through the IPO and those who purchased shares after the market debut. The target price is a brokerage estimate, not a guaranteed future trading price.
Jio Platforms Share Price: Listing Price vs Nomura Target
Jio Platforms' IPO was priced at ₹1,119 per share. The stock subsequently made its market debut at approximately ₹1,358–₹1,359, delivering a listing premium of around 21.4% over the issue price.
Nomura's ₹1,340 target price implies the following comparisons:
IPO issue price: ₹1,119 per share
Reported listing price: Approximately ₹1,358–₹1,359
Nomura target price: ₹1,340
Potential gain versus IPO issue price: Approximately 19.7%
Difference versus ₹1,358 listing price: Approximately 1.3% lower
These calculations use the reported listing price, not a live market quote. The stock's current price may differ as trading continues.
Why Is Nomura Bullish on Jio Platforms?
Nomura believes Jio Platforms has evolved from a market disruptor into a major leader in India's telecom sector. Its research highlights the company's subscriber scale, data usage, home broadband operations and potential to increase revenue per user.
The brokerage has cited Jio's approximately 42% share of wireless subscribers and roughly 60% share of data traffic as important competitive strengths.
Nomura also expects Jio Platforms' EBITDA to grow at an annual compound rate of around 13.5% between FY2026 and FY2029. Actual growth will depend on revenue trends, operating costs, competition and the company's ability to convert investment into earnings.
Could Telecom Tariff Hikes Boost Jio's Earnings?
A potential telecom tariff increase of around 15% during November–December 2026 is one of the catalysts highlighted in market analysis. If implemented, higher tariffs could improve average revenue per user, or ARPU, and support revenue growth.
However, the timing and size of any tariff increase remain uncertain. Investors should treat this as a brokerage expectation rather than a confirmed industry-wide decision.
The impact on earnings will also depend on customer retention, competitive responses and changes in subscriber usage.
Home Broadband Emerges as a Growth Driver
Jio's home broadband business is another important part of the company's growth outlook. The figures cited in brokerage coverage show that Jio had approximately 28.6 million fixed broadband subscribers in June 2026, compared with about 14.7 million for Bharti Airtel.
Growing demand for home connectivity and fixed wireless access could provide further opportunities. However, continued network investment, customer acquisition costs and competition will influence how much of this growth translates into profits and cash flow.
Can Jio Platforms Become Net Debt-Free by FY2029?
Nomura expects Jio Platforms' cash flow to improve as spending on its 5G network infrastructure moderates. Lower capital expenditure, alongside earnings growth, could strengthen the company's balance sheet over time.
The brokerage projects that Jio could become net debt-free by FY2029. This remains a forecast, not a guaranteed outcome, and will depend on operating performance, future investment requirements and other financial commitments.
Elara Capital's Jio Platforms Share Price Target
Elara Capital has also initiated coverage on Jio Platforms with a Buy rating and a target price of ₹1,367 per share. This valuation is based on an estimated FY2029 enterprise-value-to-EBITDA multiple of 11.5 times.
At a listing price of ₹1,358, the ₹1,367 target is only around 0.7% higher. The target's often-quoted upside of approximately 22% is measured against the ₹1,119 IPO issue price, not against the listing price.
Brokerage targets may differ because analysts use different valuation assumptions, earnings forecasts and time horizons. Neither target should be interpreted as a promise of future returns.
Jio Platforms Shares: Should Investors Buy, Sell or Hold?
Investors should consider their purchase price, investment horizon, risk tolerance and view of Jio Platforms' future earnings before making a decision.
IPO allottees: Investors who received shares at ₹1,119 have a different return profile from those who bought at the post-listing price. They may wish to evaluate their original investment goals, portfolio exposure and willingness to withstand price fluctuations.
Investors who bought after listing: At prices around ₹1,358, the difference between the market price and Nomura's ₹1,340 target is small but negative. It is important to compare the current share price with multiple analyst estimates, rather than relying on the IPO listing premium alone.
Long-term investors: Key factors to monitor include ARPU growth, the timing of telecom tariff changes, broadband subscriber additions, capital expenditure, free cash flow and the company's ability to monetise its digital services.
Risks include delayed tariff increases, stronger competition, higher-than-expected investment spending and a valuation that already reflects substantial future growth.
