
Retail inflation for industrial workers rose to 6.49 percent in September. It was 5.85 percent in August 2022. According to government data released by the government on Monday, retail inflation has increased mainly due to costlier food items. In a statement, the Labor Ministry said that the inflation rate for September 2022 stood at 6.49 percent as compared to 5.85 percent in the previous month and 4.40 percent in the corresponding month of last year.
Similarly, the rate of food inflation stood at 7.76 percent in September 2022 as compared to 6.46 percent in August this year and 2.26 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year. The All India Consumer Price Index (Industrial Labour) rose by 1.1 points to 131.3 points in September 2022. It was 130.2 points in August. The biggest impact of the increase recorded in the index was on food items. This led to an increase of 0.68 percentage points in the index.
Coming to the commodity, Rice, Wheat Flour, Buffalo Milk, Dairy Milk, Poultry Chicken, Carrot, Cauliflower, Green Coriander, Onion, Potato, Tomato, Vada, Idli, Dosa, etc. were responsible for raising the index. On the other hand, Fresh Fish, Palm Oil, Mustard Oil, Sunflower Oil, Soyabean Oil, Apple, Asafoetida, Orange, Gourd, etc. tried to control the rise recorded in the index.
