Sugar Stock Turns ₹3.50 Into ₹120: 3,100% Return in 5 Years—Full Details

Posted on 21st Aug 2026 11:15 am by rohit kumar

A small-cap sugar stock has emerged as a major multibagger, turning an investment of ₹10,000 made five years ago into more than ₹3.26 lakh. Oswal Overseas Ltd has delivered a staggering return of over 3,100% during this period, with the stock recently trading around ₹120.

The stock has also attracted attention amid the government's recent measures to control rising sugar prices, including tighter stock limits for dealers and other steps aimed at improving domestic availability.

Which sugar stock has delivered 3,100% returns?

The stock in focus is Oswal Overseas Ltd, a company engaged in the production of sugar, jaggery, bagasse and power.

According to the figures provided, the company's shares have risen from around ₹3.67 five years ago to approximately ₹119.75, translating into a gain of about 3,163%.

An investment of ₹10,000 at the earlier price would have grown to roughly ₹3.26 lakh, excluding taxes and other transaction costs.

The stock's reported 52-week high is around ₹143, while its 52-week low is approximately ₹48. Its market capitalisation is around ₹155 crore.

What does Oswal Overseas do?

Oswal Overseas operates in the sugar and power businesses. Its operations include the production and sale of sugar and related by-products such as molasses and bagasse.

The company also generates electricity and supplies power commercially under a power purchase agreement. It has outlined plans to expand its sugar-production capacity and explore ethanol production using sugar-industry by-products.

Why are sugar stocks in focus now?

Sugar stocks have gained attention after the government introduced measures aimed at containing the sharp rise in domestic sugar prices.

Under the new stock-limit rules, dealers handling more than 10 metric tonnes of sugar per month cannot hold inventory exceeding their 15-day requirement during the specified period.

The government has also taken steps to improve sugar availability ahead of the festive season, when demand traditionally rises because of higher consumption of sweets, biscuits and confectionery products.

Should investors buy Oswal Overseas shares?

The stock's extraordinary historical return may attract investors, but past performance does not guarantee future returns. Oswal Overseas is a small-cap company, and sugar stocks can be highly sensitive to commodity prices, government policies, sugarcane availability, ethanol policies and weather conditions.

Investors should therefore examine the company's latest financial results, debt levels, cash flows, valuations, promoter holdings and trading liquidity before making an investment decision.
