PI Industries Shares Crash 10%: Why the Stock Fell Despite Sensex Rally

Posted on 5th Nov 2026 12:04 pm by rohit kumar

Shares of PI Industries came under intense selling pressure on November 5, falling more than 14% even as the broader Indian stock market traded with significant gains. The agrochemical company's stock touched a fresh 52-week low of ₹1,791 during the session and was trading around ₹1,871 at the time of the reported update.

The sharp decline followed the company's weak September-quarter (Q2 FY27) financial results, which showed a steep fall in net profit, revenue and operating earnings. The contraction in EBITDA margin also raised concerns about the company's profitability.

PI Industries share price hits a 52-week low

PI Industries shares opened at ₹2,057 before facing heavy selling pressure. The stock subsequently slipped to an intraday low of ₹1,791 and was quoted at around ₹1,871, representing a decline of more than 14% from the previous close, according to the supplied market update.

The fall stood out because benchmark indices were trading higher during the session. Investors appeared concerned about the company's weak quarterly performance and the pressure on its operating margins.

PI Industries Q2 results: Net profit falls 70%

PI Industries reported a sharp decline in consolidated net profit for the September quarter. Net profit fell 70.1% year-on-year to ₹122 crore, compared with ₹409 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Revenue from operations also declined. The company's top line fell 9.1% year-on-year to ₹1,702 crore from ₹1,872 crore in the year-ago quarter.

The operating performance was similarly weak. EBITDA declined 57% to ₹232.7 crore from ₹541.3 crore in the corresponding period last year.

EBITDA margin contracts sharply

One of the major concerns in the quarterly results was the sharp contraction in the company's EBITDA margin.

PI Industries' EBITDA margin declined to 13.7% in Q2 FY27, compared with 28.9% in the same quarter last year. The fall indicates significant pressure on operating profitability.

The combination of lower revenue, a steep decline in EBITDA and weaker margins weighed on investor sentiment and contributed to the sharp fall in the stock.

PI Industries shares extend their longer-term decline

The latest sell-off adds to the stock's losses across multiple timeframes. According to the BSE performance figures supplied for this report, PI Industries shares declined:

6.72% over one week

11.08% over one month

30.08% over three months

34.62% over six months

46.56% over one year

56.60% over two years

43.60% over three years

These figures point to sustained weakness in the stock beyond the latest post-results session.

What should investors watch next?

Investors will be watching the company's management commentary for details on the factors behind the earnings decline, the outlook for its agrochemical business and the possibility of a recovery in operating margins.

The pace of revenue recovery and the company's ability to improve profitability will also be important factors to monitor in the coming quarters.

For now, the sharp fall in PI Industries shares reflects market concerns about the company's weak Q2 FY27 performance, particularly the 70.1% decline in net profit and the significant contraction in EBITDA margin.
