Bhubaneswar, March 3 (IANS) The Odisha High Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator Pravat Tripathy, who was arrested by the CBI in connection with the chit fund scam in the state.

Tripathy has been in jail in Bhubaneswar since he was arrested on October 31 last year for his alleged link with chit fund firm Artha Tatwa Group.

The court granted him bail on a bond of Rs.10 lakh and asked him to surrender his passport.

The court also asked the lawmaker to cooperate with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) during its ongoing inquiry in the chit fund scam.

The CBI has already filed a preliminary charge sheet in the Artha Tatwa Group case naming Tripathy and several other directors of the company as accused.
