The fight for the Maratha reservation also intensified after the EWS quota for the economically weaker section got legal recognition. According to the information, the Maharashtra government has decided to approach the Supreme Court for the legal battle of the Maratha reservation. Under this, the Supreme Court has demanded to hear the review petition in June 2021. The petition states that the Maratha community is backward and deserves such reservation. Let me tell you, this review petition is based on the report of the Gaikwad Commission in 2018.

Last week, the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court upheld the 10 percent EWS quota in jobs and education. This decision of the Supreme Court allows crossing the limit of 50 percent reservation.

Fadnavis had indicated

After the Supreme Court decided on the EWS quota, Maharashtra's Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis gave hints about the Maratha reservation. He had said that we are preparing to give Maratha a reservation in the state. Till then eligible people can take advantage of this 10% EW quota.

cabinet sub-committee meeting
