In Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), 43 percent of the people who took part in the survey conducted on the digital platform 'LocalCircles' said that their family or someone close to them has had dengue this year.

Since mid-August, several residents of Delhi-NCR have reported on 'local circles' about someone in their family having dengue symptoms like high fever, fatigue, and joint pain.

The survey received 15,000 responses, of which 57 percent were from Ghaziabad, 45 percent in Delhi, 44 percent in Noida, 40 percent in Faridabad, and 29 percent in Gurugram.

The survey said that 10 percent of the people in Delhi-NCR had dengue with four or more of their families or their close relatives. Most of the 53 percent residents of Delhi-NCR surveyed said that no one around them has been infected and three percent said they cannot say anything about it. About 43 percent of the people said that their family or someone close to them has been affected by dengue this year.

Sachin Taparia, Founder of, LocalCircles said that LocalCircles saw a more than 100 percent increase in requests for blood platelets week-on-week for the past six weeks. The survey found that not only Delhi but NCR is also badly affected by dengue. It also suggests the immediate intervention of the authorities to control and reduce the spread as well as additional health care services.
