New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas said his party would follow democratic norms, but in case the party's voice went unheard by the centre it will resort to dharna, rallies and fasts.
Participating in TV show Aap Ki Adalat, the AAP leader said: "If our voice is heard, it's fine, in case not, then the paths of dharna, rallies and fast are open."
The AAP Saturday formed the government in Delhi, following a massive win in the Feb 7 assembly election.
Talking about how the Arvind Kejriwal-government would function in case the centre did not support it fully, the poet-leader said "Even husband and wife resort to dharna if they quarrel," adding that all matters of public importance must be heard by any government.
"...if a daughter (rape-murder victim) from Rohtak calls us and the government refuses to listen, tell us where should we go? Their chief minister (Manohar Lal Khattar) says girls who wear jeans often become victims of rape, but our prime minister says, 'beti bachao' (save daughters)," he said.
"When we resort to dharna, the prime minister says send them to the jungle, they are Naxals," he added. "We thank the people of Delhi who saved us from being sent to the jungle by electing us."
On charges against some AAP MLAs by seniormost party leader Shanti Bhushan, Vishwas said the eminent lawyer "had levelled charges against some leaders and these were probed by an internal inquiry committee headed by his son Prashant Bhushan".
"It was he, who soon after, said that he disagreed with the charges levelled by his father."
Vishwas also said that he would speak out if the core principles of the party were compromised. "If the core principles are compromised, I will raise my voice inside the party, and if my voice is not heard, I will raise it outside," he said.
