Kolkata, March 9 (IANS) India-German collaborations that marry art and science will be highlighted through photography and other activities in a week-long event beginning here on March 10, a statement said on Monday.

Organised by the German House for Research and Innovation - DWIH New Delhi, the 'DWIH Horizon: Art Meets Science' programme includes a higher education and research fair as well as a photo exhibition, to capture the essence of art and science under one roof.

"The higher education and research fair (March 10 and 11) will see participation from 10 consortium members of DWIH New Delhi. This presence will include leading German universities, research funding organisations and educational institutions," a German consulate in Kolkata said.

These institutions will set up info-stands to disseminate all necessary information required by students, scientists or researchers to pursue their careers in Germany.

The programme will also include various discussions and lectures conducted by German institutions represented under the umbrella of DWIH New Delhi.

On March 11, an India-German alumni conference will be organised which will include a panel discussion on cooperative ties in the fields of higher education, research, skill development and economic relations between the two countries.

The photo exhibition (March 10 to 15) curated by German photographer Wolfgang Zurborn will showcase photographic works depicting life in India.

Photos that will be displayed in the exhibition have been clicked by Indian photographers during the photography master classes 'The Theatre of Real Life' conducted during the 'Excellence on Tour!' road shows in Ahmedabad and Kolkata earlier.

"This event aims to capture the gist of India-German academic creativity expressed through photography and scientific activities. It displays a cultural highlight combined with ample first-hand information on research and innovation in Germany," it said.
