Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday said Bangladesh owes Tripura Rs 200 crore in electricity bills but no decision has been taken so far on stopping the supply. Tripura supplies 60-70 MW of electricity to the neighboring country as per the agreement signed by Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited through NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited with Bangladesh Power Development Board.

Power has been supplied to Bangladesh since 2016

Saha said the dues are increasing every day. Asked if the government will stop supply if Dhaka fails to pay the dues, the chief minister said no decision has been taken on it yet. However, it is not known how long we will be able to continue the supply if the dues are not cleared. Tripura started supplying power to Bangladesh in March 2016.
