Corona's impact: Doubt over PM Modi's participation in International Yoga Day program this time

New Delhi: The Ministry of AYUSH on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to participate in the International Yoga Day program in Leh on June 21, but there is doubt about his visit due to the corona virus epidemic. Significantly, the officials of the ministry had earlier said that PM Modi will go to Leh to participate in the program of International Yoga Day on 21 June.

 

 

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH said that due to the threat of covid-19, there will be no program now. The official said, "It is not yet decided whether the Prime Minister will participate in a program. Earlier it was decided that he would go to Leh, but now due to the covid-19 crisis, it is not yet decided whether he will go to Leh or not.

 

 

He added, the main event will be a mega event, but it will be digital. However, work is still being done on it.

 

 

'Yoga at home and yoga with family'

 

The central government said in its statement that in view of the covid-19 epidemic, this year's International Yoga Day will be celebrated on the digital media platform and there will be no event with the presence of the people. It is worth mentioning that the theme of this year's Yoga Day is 'Yoga at home and yoga with family'.

 

 

Officials said that the Indian Embassy and High Commission abroad are also reaching out to people through digital media and yoga supporting organizations. The Ministry of AYUSH had earlier planned a big event on Yoga Day in Leh, but due to Corona epidemic, it had to be canceled.
