The 53-year-old company produces 1.5 billion doses every year. About 7,000 people work in this company. The company supplies 20 vaccines in 165 countries. Now the firm has tied up with American biotech company Kodagenics to develop a live attenuated vaccine.

World Health Organization (WHO) Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan said, "The credit should go to the entrepreneurs and pharmaceutical companies who have invested in quality manufacturing." However, experts warn that people should not expect the vaccine to come too soon. David Nabarro, professor of global health at Imperial College, London, says humans will have to live with the threat of the corono virus in the near future.
