Both countries are running joint vaccine development programs. India and the United States have worked together to prevent dengue, bowel disease, influenza and TB. India is the largest manufacturer of generic medicines and vaccines in the world. It is a country of half a dozen major vaccine manufacturers. Now the firm has tied up with American biotech company Kodagenics to develop a live attenuated vaccine.

However, experts warn that people should not expect the vaccine to come too soon. David Nabarro, professor of global health at Imperial College, London, says humans will have to live with the threat of the corono virus in the near future.
