Afghan Nangarhar Public Health Department spokesperson Naqibullah Rahimi has also confirmed the earthquake. Rahimi says that many houses collapsed due to the strong tremors of the earthquake. Initially, the news of 9 people dying and 15 people being injured had come to the fore. But now 622 people are feared dead, and more than 1,500 people are injured. According to USGS, the epicenter of the earthquake has been recorded 8 kilometers below the ground, 27 kilometers northeast of Jalalabad. This earthquake occurred at 12:47 am on Sunday-Monday night. Apart from Afghanistan, tremors were also felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan.
Effects were felt till Delhi NCR
The effect of the earthquake was felt in Delhi NCR. Many people ran out of their homes due to the sudden shaking of the earth at midnight. There was an atmosphere of panic among the people. However, the earthquake tremors in Delhi NCR were mild compared to Afghanistan, due to which there was no loss of life or property.
