Chandigarh, Feb 11 (IANS) Former minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sucha Singh Langah was Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment in a corruption case and fined Rs.1 crore by a court in Mohali town, 10 km from here.
The court found Langah guilty in a disproportionate assets case registered against him in 2002.
Langah was public works department (PWD) minister in the government of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal from 1997 to 2002. He was also the agriculture minister in the Badal government between 2007 and 2012.
He was considered close to Badal earlier. He lost the election in the 2012 Punjab assembly polls.
The Punjab vigilance department had filed a case against Langah for corruption.
