The Indian women's team achieved a historic victory on Sunday, winning the ODI World Cup for the first time. Following the Indian team's victory, current Indian players, as well as former team members like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, were unable to contain their emotions and shed tears. Following the title win, an incident took everyone by surprise. When India captain Harmanpreet Kaur came to receive the trophy from ICC President Jay Shah, an emotional Harmanpreet touched Shah's feet, but the ICC President immediately stopped her from doing so. India wins the title for the first time in 52 years.

The Indian women's team has created history. Team India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025. Batting first, India scored 298 for seven in 50 overs. In response, South Africa was bowled out for 246. Deepti Sharma turned the match around with a five-wicket haul. South African captain El Wolvaardt's 101-run innings went in vain. This is India's first ODI World Cup title in the 52-year history of the Women's ODI World Cup. The first Women's ODI World Cup was played in 1973. In addition to Deepti, Shafali Verma also performed brilliantly in this match. She scored 87 runs with the bat and took two wickets. She was named Player of the Match.

 

 

Players Celebrated Wildly

After the Indian team's victory, the players celebrated wildly on the field. The team circled the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai with the trophy and thanked the fans for their continued support throughout the tournament.
