Imran Khan said - America does not understand, but his 'understanding' also became a joke

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan's interview given to CNN on Wednesday is very much discussed.

One answer of Imran Khan is making headlines and people are making fun of him. CNN journalist Becky Anderson asked Imran Khan about the Haqqani network involved in the interim Taliban government.

Andersen asked that the Haqqani network has been involved in several violent attacks by US forces and Afghanistan and have been receiving aid from Pakistan.

In response to this question, Imran Khan said, "America has no understanding about the Haqqani network. Haqqani tribe...they are a Pashtun tribe and live in Afghanistan. When Afghan Jihad started 40 years ago, 5 million Afghan refugees came to Pakistan. Some of these Haqqanis were Mujahideen and were fighting the Soviets. They were born in Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan.

There is a lot of tension on this answer of Imran Khan. The Haqqanis are neither a tribe nor a Pashtun. Hussain Haqqani, Pakistan's ambassador to the US, tweeted, "My most important ancestor Maulana Abu Muhammad Abdul Haqqani Mufasir Dehlvi was a theologian. He was buried near the tomb of Sufi saint Hazrat Baki Billah in Old Delhi. He wrote Tafseer-e-Haqqani and other books.

Haqqani wrote in his second tweet, "My surname came from Delhi family. Pashtun Haqqani got this title because of studying in Darul Uloom Haqqaniah located in Akora Khattak in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Jalaluddin and his family are from Zardan Tribe. There is no Haqqani tribe among Pashtuns. If Jalaluddin Haqqani is from the Haqqani tribe then Imran Khan is Aitchison and Oxford tribe.

Well-known Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir has also written this answer of Imran Khan as wrong, "Heard Imran Khan on CNN saying that Haqqani is a tribe in Afghanistan. Haqqani is not a tribe. All of them are students of Darul Uloom Haqqaniah Akora Khattak. These include Jalaluddin Haqqani who played an important role in defeating the Soviet Union.

The hashtag Haqqani and the hashtag Imran Khan are also trending on Twitter in Pakistan. The people of Pakistan are taking a dig at Imran Khan for calling Haqqani a tribe. Journalist Hezbollah Khan tweeted a video clip of Imran Khan's reply, writing, "Imran Khan said that Americans do not understand the Haqqani network. After that, I listened to Imran Khan's understanding and he described Haqqani as a Pashtun tribe who lives in Afghanistan. There is no Haqqani tribe among Pashtuns. The founder of Haqqani Network, Jalaluddin Haqqani was from Jardan Tribe.

When Becky Anderson asked Imran Khan about the future of relations between America and Pakistan, he said, "We want the same relationship as America has with India. The relationship cannot be one-sided. We want normal relations with America. Unfortunately, during the American influence in Afghanistan, the relationship with Pakistan was very poor.

Imran Khan said that for peace and stability in Afghanistan, it is necessary to talk with the Taliban. Imran Khan said, "The Taliban have control over the whole of Afghanistan. If they move towards an inclusive government and bring all factions together, then peace can prevail in Afghanistan after 40 years. But if they move on the wrong path, it will lead to a serious humanitarian crisis.

Imran Khan said that the Taliban is looking for international help so that any crisis can be avoided. The Pakistani PM said that Afghanistan cannot be controlled by external forces.

It is said about Pakistan that it also remained with the Taliban and also pretended to support the operation of American forces in Afghanistan. However, Pakistan has been denying these allegations outright.

In 2018, Pakistan released Mullah Baradar, a key Taliban leader, from prison. It was said that he was released from prison for talking to America. Last week, the Taliban announced the appointment of Mullah Baradar as deputy prime minister in its interim government.

On Monday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the US will evaluate its relationship with Pakistan. Blinken was speaking before the Foreign Affairs Committee at Congress. Blinken said that Pakistan has many interests in Afghanistan and some interests that conflict with the US.

On this comment of Blinken, Imran Khan said in an interview to CNN that it shows America's ignorance. Imran Khan said that he has never seen such ignorance.

Pakistan has not yet recognized the Taliban's interim government in Afghanistan. Pakistan's National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf said on Wednesday that the world's 'wait and watch' approach to recognizing the Taliban government in Afghanistan could add to the problem. Yusuf said that the mistakes made by the countries of the West in the 1990s ruined the economy and engulfed Afghanistan in civil war.

The turmoil in the international world regarding the Taliban has not stopped yet. Suspicion about Pakistan has increased not only of America but also of its neighboring country Iran. In recent days, there have been many such statements from Iran, which show that Iran is concerned about the increasing influence of Pakistan in Afghanistan.

Pakistani PM Imran Khan has left for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's summit in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, today i.e. on 16 September. India, China, and Russia are also participating in this summit. The issue of Afghanistan will remain shadowed here too. Iran's new President Ibrahim Raisi has also been called to this summit. Indian Prime Minister Modi will address this summit virtually.
