External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar said that a "political effort" is going on to present the government of India especially and there is a difference between the politically fabricated image and the actual record of the government there. Talking to former US National Security Advisor General SR McMaster, Jaishankar said on Wednesday that India is currently going through a "stressful phase" due to the global epidemic of coronavirus.

The dialogue was held in the session "India: Opportunities and Challenges for Strategic Partnership" organized by Hoover Institute. The foreign minister said, "We are giving free food to 80 crore people, last year for several months and this year also due to the second wave of coronavirus. We have sent money to the bank accounts of 40 crore people. "

He said, "This government has done this. And if you are feeding two and a half times more people than the population of America and sending money to more people than the population of America and you are doing all this without any discussion anyone Going beyond the name of the person and the information related to it, they are putting money directly into his bank account. What do you want more than this? There is no basis for discrimination. "

Jaishankar said, "So when you look at the real decisions related to governance, you will find the difference between the politically fabricated image and the real government record." That's why I believe you should take it the way it is - the real game of politics. You can agree or disagree with it, but certainly, I see that it is part of the political effort to present our current government specially and I completely disagree with it. "

The External Affairs Minister said, "We Indians are confident about our democracy ... India is deeply a pluralistic society." McMaster asked Jaishankar a question on "Hindutva policies" which led to Indian democracy The secular nature is weakened. He had asked what changes have taken place in the internal politics of India due to the shock of the global epidemic and whether it is right for India's friends to be worried about the recent changes.

Jaishankar said that he will give a direct political answer to the question, which will also be a bit connected to society. He said, "The political answer is that in earlier times there was a lot of dependence on vote bank politics, which means to appeal to the voters based on the identity of the people, their recognition, etc." If we are separated from this practice then it is a difference. "

The Foreign Minister said that people in India believe in different religious beliefs and religious beliefs all over the world are very closely linked with the culture and identity of the place. He said, "Secularism in our society means equal respect for all religions. Secularism does not mean that you should not accept your religion or anyone else's religion. "

Jaishankar said, "I believe that what you are seeing in India is in many ways the deepening of democracy, or rather it is a broad representation of people in politics, leadership positions, and society." People who are more confident about their culture, their language, and their beliefs. "

He said, "I would like to say this openly. These people are probably fewer, fewer than in the English-speaking world, less connected to other global centers. So there is a difference here. And I believe that this difference is often judged politically harshly and is usually used to create a kind of discourse. "

Jaishankar came to New York on a tour of America on Sunday. He met UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutarase, on Wednesday he went to Washington where he is scheduled to meet US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. This is the first US visit of a senior Indian minister since President Joe Biden took office in January.
