Rohit becomes the new captain of Test, BCCI announces team against SL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the squad for the upcoming T20 and Test series against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma has been given the command of the Test team, while Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the T20 series. Opener KL Rahul is out due to injury in the ODI series against West Indies. Jasprit Bumrah will be the vice-captain of both teams.

 

At the same time, the big news is that the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee has shown the way out of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Both the players have not got a place in the Test team.

 

India's tour of Sri Lanka begins on February 24. The first three-match T20 series will be played on the tour. The first match of the series will be held in Lucknow, while the next two matches have been hosted by Dharamsala. After the T20 series, a two-match Test series will also be played. The first Test will be played in Mohali from March 4 and the second Test will be played in Bangalore from March 12. The second test will be the day-night test.
