New Delhi, Jan 19 (IANS) The Supreme Court said Monday it will hear petitions by the West Bengal government and the Trinamool Congress urging it to monitor the CBI probe into the multi-crore rupee Saradha scam and alleged leakage of information.
An apex court bench headed by Justice T.S. Thakur said it would hear the matter Thursday as senior counsel Kapil Sibal told it that information from the CBI reached the West Bengal government and the accused much later than other people.
Probing the scam that came to light in April 2014, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate have questioned many Trinamool MPs.
Sibal told the court that while handing over the probe to the CBI, it had said that it would not monitor this but could do so if the need arose.
As Sibal mentioned the matter for further hearing Thursday, the court asked him the reason for the urgency. Sibal said: "Information is reaching other parties much earlier than the West Bengal government as there was a leakage".
