
The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government while hearing the bail plea of Kerala-based journalist Siddiqui Kappan. The court will hear the matter on September 9. Actually, on October 5, 2020, Siddiqui Kappan was arrested from Mathura.
Siddiqui Kappan was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for conspiring to incite violence in the Hathras case. Sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) have been imposed on Siddiqui. Earlier, the Allahabad High Court had rejected Kappan's bail plea, calling the matter serious.
An attempt was made to kill a Scheduled Caste girl after she was gang-raped on 14 September 2020 in a village in Chandpa area of Hathras. This girl died a few days later in a hospital in Delhi.
Notice issued to husbands of Muslim women in Talaq-e-Hasan case
