iPhone 18e Specifications Leaked: A20 Chip, 60Hz OLED Display and 48MP Camera Expected

Apple's upcoming affordable smartphone, the iPhone 18e, has reportedly surfaced in a fresh leak revealing its expected processor, camera, and display specifications. The successor to the iPhone 17e could feature Apple's next-generation A20 chipset, a 24MP front camera and a familiar 60Hz OLED display.

According to a post shared by Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the iPhone 18e could receive significant internal upgrades while retaining much of the hardware configuration of its predecessor. Apple has not officially announced the smartphone or confirmed any of these specifications.

iPhone 18e May Feature Apple's 2nm A20 Chip

One of the biggest highlights of the latest leak is the reported A20 chipset. The processor is expected to be manufactured using a 2nm process, potentially bringing improvements in performance and power efficiency.

For comparison, the iPhone 17e uses Apple's A19 chip, which is based on a 3nm manufacturing process. A transition to a 2nm processor could offer better efficiency and improved processing capabilities, although the actual performance difference will only become clear after official specifications and independent testing.

It is also unclear whether the A20 chip in the iPhone 18e will be identical to the version expected in Apple's higher-end models or feature different specifications.

iPhone 18e Camera Specifications: 48MP Rear and 24MP Front

The iPhone 18e could continue using a single 48MP rear camera, according to the leak. This would mean Apple may retain the same rear-camera resolution as the iPhone 17e rather than introduce a major hardware change.

However, the front-facing camera could receive a notable upgrade. Digital Chat Station suggests that the smartphone may feature a 24MP selfie camera, compared with the 12MP front camera on the iPhone 17e.

If accurate, the upgrade could provide greater image detail for selfies and video calls. Nevertheless, the final camera quality will depend on the sensor, image processing, and software features rather than megapixel count alone.

iPhone 18e Display May Continue With 60Hz Refresh Rate

The iPhone 18e is tipped to feature a 6.12-inch OLED display with LTPS technology and a 60Hz refresh rate.

This specification would closely resemble the display configuration of its predecessor. While several Android smartphones in the mid-range segment offer 90Hz or 120Hz screens, Apple may continue reserving higher refresh rates for more expensive iPhone models.

The lack of a 120Hz display could disappoint users hoping for smoother scrolling and animations on Apple's entry-level smartphone.

iPhone 18e Launch Timeline: When Could Apple Announce It?

Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce the iPhone 18e in spring 2027. The launch could follow the company's recent schedule for its affordable smartphone lineup.

The iPhone 18e is also rumoured to arrive alongside the standard iPhone 18 and a second-generation iPhone Air. However, Apple has not confirmed the launch date or revealed whether these devices will be announced together.

iPhone 18e Price in India: No Details Yet

The latest leak does not provide information about the expected price of the iPhone 18e.

Pricing could become an important factor for Apple's next affordable smartphone, particularly as manufacturing costs for memory and other components continue to influence the smartphone market.

It remains to be seen whether Apple will maintain the existing price positioning of the iPhone 17e or introduce a price adjustment for its successor.

iPhone 18e: Expected Specifications at a Glance

Processor: Apple A20, reportedly based on 2nm technology

Display: 6.12-inch LTPS OLED

Refresh rate: 60Hz

Rear camera: Single 48MP sensor

Front camera: Potential 24MP sensor

Launch timeline: Expected spring 2027

Price: Not officially announced

The iPhone 18e could focus on improved processing power and selfie photography while retaining a familiar display and rear-camera setup. However, all specifications remain based on early leaks and should be treated as unconfirmed until Apple makes an official announcement.
