Tech giant Meta has rolled out a major update for users of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp by launching a new lineup of premium subscription services globally. The company confirmed that users will now be able to access a variety of advanced and exclusive features through paid monthly plans across its popular platforms.
According to Meta’s Head of Product, Naomi Gleit, these subscriptions are designed to enhance personalization, improve user experience, and provide premium social media tools. The company clarified that these new “Plus” plans are completely separate from the existing Meta Verified (Blue Tick) service, which will continue to focus on identity verification, enhanced account security, and customer support.
Meta has not officially announced region-wise pricing for all markets, but reports suggest the following monthly subscription prices for Indian users:
These plans are expected to be available gradually across multiple countries in the coming months.
Meta is reportedly adding several personalization-focused features to WhatsApp Plus subscribers, including:
The company aims to make WhatsApp more customizable and feature-rich for premium users.
Instagram Plus is expected to bring several advanced features aimed at creators and heavy social media users. Some of the standout additions include:
Users will reportedly be able to track how many times viewers replayed or revisited their Stories.
Subscribers may preview Stories without their names appearing in the viewer list.
Instead of relying only on “Close Friends,” users can create multiple custom audience groups for Stories.
Users will have the option to keep Stories visible for longer durations directly on their profile.
One Story per week can reportedly be boosted for extra visibility and reach.
Subscribers can search names directly inside Story viewer lists.
Instagram Plus may also include:
Facebook Plus users are also expected to receive enhanced customization features, premium engagement tools, and additional profile options similar to Instagram Plus.
Meta is also preparing a separate premium ecosystem called “Meta One,” focused on AI tools, creators, influencers, and businesses.
This plan reportedly includes:
Expected price: Around ₹1,455 per month.
Designed for professional creators and businesses, this premium plan may include:
Expected monthly cost: Around ₹4,850.
With these subscription-based offerings, Meta appears to be moving toward a hybrid social media model that combines free access with premium paid experiences. The company is increasingly focusing on AI-powered services, creator monetization, personalization, and advanced engagement tools as competition intensifies in the global social media market.
The rollout of these premium plans could significantly reshape how users interact with Meta’s platforms in the coming years.
