There has been a big disclosure regarding the privacy of Twitter users. Hackers stole the email addresses of more than 200 million Twitter users and posted the email addresses on an online hacking forum, a security researcher said Wednesday. "Unfortunately, this hacking will lead to (electronic fraud) phishing and doxing," Alon Gal, co-founder of Israeli cybersecurity-monitoring firm Hudson Rock, wrote on LinkedIn. He said that this is a huge leak. However, there has been no comment on the matter from Twitter.
Hackers have no clue
News agency Reuters also could not confirm that the data on the forum was authentic and came from Twitter. Screenshots of the hacker forum were seen online on Wednesday. Troy Hunt, creator of the breach-notification site Have I Been Pwned, looked at the leaked data and said on Twitter that it appeared to be "just as told." The identity or location of the hacker or hackers behind the breach was not known. No clue was found. It is possible that the hacking incident happened before Elon Musk took over the ownership of the company.
