A big claim has been made about India in a United Nations report. It has been said that by 2050, India will face the biggest water crisis in the world. The situation will worsen in the neighboring countries of Pakistan and China as well. Flow conditions in many rivers will also weaken.

According to the UN report, the world's urban population of about 1.7 to 2.40 billion will face a water crisis. According to the report released by the United Nations, in the year 2016, the 9.33 crore population was facing a water crisis. United Nations has released 'United Nations World Water Report 2023' before the United Nations Water Conference 2023.

What other claims were made in the report?

About 80% of the population in Asia is facing a water crisis.

This crisis is the most on Northeast China, India, and Pakistan.

It is estimated that India will be the most affected by this crisis.

Due to the melting of glaciers, the flow of major Himalayan rivers like the Indus, Ganga, and Brahmaputra will reduce.

26 percent of people are not getting clean water

It has been claimed in the report that 26 percent of the world's population is not getting clean water to drink. While 46 percent of the population is taking advantage of safe drinking water. According to a report released by UNESCO on behalf of the UN, two to three billion people in the world struggle with water scarcity for at least one month a year. The UN has said that this crisis is going to increase even more in the coming times.

What did the Director General of UNESCO say?

Andre Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, said that before getting out of this global crisis, there is an urgent need to get out of the international system. The editor-in-chief of the UN report said, 'Water is like blood for humanity. It is essential for the life, health, resilience, and development of people. Time is not on our side and there is a lot to do. This report shows that we aim to come together and take action. This is our time to bring a change.
