New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS) A 32-year-old woman police officer Monday fainted during the Delhi Police Raising Day parade here.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Niyati Mittal fell when union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was addressing the gathering on women safety and security.
Officials said the woman officer fell because of "long duty hours".
They added that she was on duty at the parade ground on the occasion of 68th Delhi Police Raising Day in which the home minister was the chief guest. The Delhi Police reports to the union home ministry.
The incident happened after the Delhi Police Raising Day parade, which was inspected by Rajnath Singh.
The woman officer fell with a thud on the ground when the home minister was speaking.
Rajnath Singh looked at the woman officer, paused for a moment, and then continued his speech.
By that time, two women officials rushed to her aid and took her away.
Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat told IANS that it was "nothing unusual".
"It happens, happens even with men when they continue to stand in the same position for long time," he said.
He added that during police training they are taught a drill that helps them in standing for long hours in the same position.
