India had to face defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia. Kangaroos beat India by six wickets. After this defeat, the Indian players went to the dressing room and a picture of them getting emotional was also revealed. All the players including Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Siraj, and Virat Kohli were seen as emotional. After the defeat to Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met the Indian cricketers in the dressing room. Its picture has come to light. PM encouraged Indian players.

 

Jadeja shared the picture

India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has shared a picture of PM coming into the dressing room. He wrote- Our tournament was very good, but we lost in the final. We are all sad, but the support of the people of our country is taking us forward. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the dressing room. His visit was special and very inspiring.

Home Minister Amit Shah also came to watch the match

Many big personalities had come to watch the India vs Australia match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also seen in the stadium during the second innings. Home Minister Amit Shah was seen with PM Modi. Apart from PM Modi, Bollywood celebrities also arrived to watch the final match. Shahrukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Asha Bhosle, Anushka Sharma, Athiya Shetty, and many other celebrities were present in the stadium.

 

What happened in the match?

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl. The Indian team was reduced to 240 runs in 50 overs. Australia won the match by scoring 241 runs for four wickets in 43 overs. Travis Head played a match-winning inning of 141 runs for the Kangaroo team. Maransh Labuschagne scored 58 not out. Mitchell Marsh was out after scoring 15 runs, David Warner after scoring seven, Steve Smith after scoring four runs. Glenn Maxwell scored two unbeaten runs.

 

Australia has become the world champion for the sixth time. At the same time, India's dream of winning the trophy for the third time was shattered. It won 10 consecutive matches in the tournament, but the team lagged in the 11th match. India has faced defeat in the final against Australia for the second time. The last time the team under the captaincy of Ricky Ponting was defeated was in 2003.

 

Kohli and Rahul scored half-centuries

Earlier, for India, KL Rahul scored the highest score of 66 and Virat Kohli scored 54 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs and Suryakumar Yadav scored 18 runs. Kuldeep Yadav contributed 10 runs. Apart from these five players, no one could touch double figures. Ravindra Jadeja was out after scoring nine runs, Mohammed Shami six, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill after scoring four runs each. Jasprit Bumrah could score only one run. Mohammad Siraj remained unbeaten after scoring nine runs. Mitchell Starc took a maximum of three wickets for Australia. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood got two successes each. Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa took one wicket each.

 

The Indian team was all out for the first time in the World Cup

In this match for India, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made the biggest partnership of 67 runs for the fourth wicket. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli added 46 runs for the second wicket. Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul could not convert good starts into big innings. Shreyas Iyer, Shubhman Gill, and Suryakumar failed at the big moment. India has been all out for the first time in this World Cup and also lost the match. Thus, India's 10-year ICC trophy drought continues.
