Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter and owned by Elon Musk, experienced another major service disruption on Wednesday morning, leaving thousands of users unable to access the platform normally. Users reported issues ranging from login failures and feed refresh problems to difficulties using the mobile app and website.

According to outage monitoring platform Downdetector, complaints surged sharply around 8:30 AM, indicating a widespread disruption affecting users across multiple regions.

The incident marks the second major outage for X within a span of 24 hours, raising concerns among users about the platform’s technical stability.

Most Complaints Linked to Mobile App and Feed Issues

Data from Downdetector revealed that the majority of complaints were related to X's mobile application.

Breakdown of Reported Issues:

40% of users reported problems with the mobile app

29% experienced feed and timeline update failures

18% faced issues accessing the website

Several users also reported login and account access difficulties

Many users took to alternative social media platforms to report that posts were not loading, timelines were failing to refresh, and account access had become inconsistent during the outage period.

Second Outage in Less Than 24 Hours

Wednesday’s disruption came just hours after another technical issue affected the platform on Tuesday evening.

During the previous outage, users similarly reported problems accessing timelines, posting content, and logging into their accounts. The repeated disruptions have led to increased discussion among users regarding the reliability of the platform's infrastructure.

While X had not immediately provided a detailed explanation for the latest outage, service interruptions appear to have become more frequent in recent months.

X Has Experienced Multiple Outages in 2026

This is not the first significant outage affecting X this year.

May 2026 Outage

Earlier in May, users in several countries, including India, experienced widespread service disruptions. During that incident:

Users were unable to view new posts

Login systems were affected

Website and mobile app services experienced technical glitches

Approximately 41% of users reported login-related issues

Another 41% complained about app performance problems

February 2026 Global Outage

In February, X suffered a major global outage impacting users in India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and several other countries.

More than 25,000 complaints were registered during that disruption. Reports indicated:

53% of app users experienced login failures

16% of website users reported access issues

Timeline and content loading services were significantly affected

November Outage Linked to Internet Infrastructure Issues

Last November, X also faced service interruptions as broader internet infrastructure problems affected multiple online platforms. Several websites relying on Cloudflare services experienced disruptions during that period, impacting user access across different regions.

Social Media Outages Becoming More Frequent

The latest X outage comes amid a broader trend of technical disruptions affecting major social media platforms.

Earlier this month, both Facebook and Instagram experienced widespread outages that impacted users across several countries, including India.

During those disruptions:

Feeds failed to load properly

New posts were not updating

Content refresh functions stopped working

Thousands of complaints were reported globally

Users from multiple Indian cities reported simultaneous issues on both platforms, highlighting the growing dependence of social media services on complex global infrastructure systems.

What Users Should Do During an X Outage

Experts recommend the following steps when facing platform outages:

Check outage tracking websites such as Downdetector

Verify official updates from the platform

Avoid repeatedly resetting passwords during service disruptions

Wait for official confirmation before attempting account recovery

Use alternative communication channels if necessary

Most social media outages are resolved once platform engineers identify and fix the underlying technical issue.
