Hyderabad, March 13 (IANS) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana on Friday complained to the state governor about suspension of its legislators from the state assembly for the entire budget session.
A delegation of TDP legislators met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum, seeking his intervention in the matter.
The leaders alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government acted in undemocratic manner by suspending them for the entire session. They urged the governor to take action against the government.
The delegation led by TDP floor leader E. Dayakar Rao also complained that the speaker was not discharging his duties in unbiased manner and is simply following the directions of the government.
The TDP leaders also alleged that the speaker is also not disqualifying three party legislators for defecting to the TRS. They sought immediate disqualification of the three, including T. Srinivas Yadav, who is now a cabinet minister.
Eleven members of the TDP were suspended from the assembly for the entire session amid ruckus on Monday.
The TDP members were staging protest in the well of the house, demanding representation for the Scheduled Castes and women in the cabinet while the government was insisting that they tender an apology for showing disrespect to the national anthem during the governor's address on March 7.
Some legislators of the TDP and Congress allegedly showed disrespect to the national anthem by making noise and shouting slogans against the government.
A member of the main opposition Congress tendered an apology on Monday.
