UK becomes the first country to approve vaccine after three-phase trial, Pfizer gets approval

Britain has become the first country in the world to approve a corona vaccine that has gone through three trials. It approved American pharma company Pfizer and German company BioNotech's joint Corona vaccine on Wednesday. It is expected that the British people will start getting vaccinated with 8 lakh doses from next week, ie before next week.

 

Why Pfizer is the world's first Corona vaccine?

A total of 212 vaccines are currently in operation in the world. China had already approved four vaccines before the Phase-1 trial and Russia had already approved two vaccines before the Phase-3 trial. Vaccination has also started in both countries, but after three-phase trials, no vaccine was approved in the world so far. Because of this, Pfizer will be the first vaccine to be approved by the government after three trials.

 

Pfizer's vaccine proved to be 95% effective

This joint corona vaccine phase 3 trial of Pfizer and BioNotech was proven to be 95% effective. Before Wednesday's approval, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of the UK said it would approve the Pfizer vaccine in as short a time as possible without compromising safety.

 

Vaccination will start through 50 hospitals

The UK has ordered a total of 40 million doses. These are enough for 2 crore people of the country. Two doses will be given to a person in 21 days. The second will be dose boosters. 10 million doses will be provided by next week. Vaccination will start through 50 hospitals with 8 lakh doses.

 

Who gets whom and when

The UK government's health experts are preparing a priority list. However, it is believed that it will be given to those people who are most at risk of corona. Care Homes and staff here are at the top. After this, the vaccine will be given to those above 80 years of age.

After the vaccine's approval, UK Health Secretary Matt Hankook said - help is on the way. HHS itself will contact people about vaccination. People will be able to enjoy the next summer. NHS Chief Executive Sir Simon Stevens said - We are going to start the biggest vaccination campaign in the history of the country.

It usually takes 10 years from research to development and approval on any vaccine, but Pfizer will be the first vaccine to reach a concept from reality in just 10 months.

Pfizer has also applied to the FDA for approval in the United States. So far, Phase 3 results of Pfizer-BioNotech, Moderna, Russia's Sputnik V, and Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine have been reported. The UK has agreed to buy 40 million vaccines from seven different producers.
