When Newly elected President of America Joe Biden arrives at the White House, how will this affect the relationship between India and America? This question is being asked in political circles.

Amidst these discussions, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone conversation with Joe Biden on Tuesday.

Giving information about their conversation on Twitter, Narendra Modi wrote, "Congratulations to Biden on the phone. We expressed our commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership and discussed our common priority issues - Covid - 19 pandemic, Climate change, and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. "

The Indian Prime Minister also spoke to the newly elected Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. Narendra Modi's relationship with the current US President Donald Trump was quite cordial and because of this, there are speculations that Narendra Modi's relationship with Biden will be more formal.

However, analysts also believe that both countries have been so close in the last two decades at the business level that there is no going back.

A virtual seminar was organized by the Indo-American Friendship Association on the issue of how the US and India relationship would be affected after the arrival of American power in the hands of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

In this discussion, Surendra Kumar, the founding president and former diplomat of the Indo American Friendship Association, said, "Under the leadership of Biden-Harris, the relationship between America and India will improve. The style may change, but the relationship will improve radically. Mutual business will increase but One change will be that now the decision related to America's foreign policy will not be found on Twitter. "

At the same time, former diplomat Ronen Sen has also hoped to improve the mutual relations between the two countries. Ronen Sen said, "I think Biden will pursue the same things in foreign policy that were going on in Donald Trump's time. There may be a slight change in the methods but more or less the same."

Ronen Sen had the opportunity to meet George Bush and Barack Obama and Joe Biden several times during his tenure, but he met Donald Trump only once. But he feels that Biden will pursue the foreign policy of America during Donald Trump's time because there is no change in the foreign policies of America for the last two decades. How India and America will have mutual relations, it is being seen by linking them with Sino-American relations.

Ronen Sen believes in this aspect, 'India will be watching this aspect. The US is also competing with China and countering it as well. But there will be no conflict situation. At the same time, India will also remain important for America from the geo-political point of view, but on the matter of China, they will not support our territorial claim nor will we deploy an army for us.

However, Ronen Sen believes that cooperation between India and America in the defense sector can increase. According to him, a lot of progress has been made during this period in the last four years, but still, a lot of things are pending. The agreement between the two countries of 2005 was not fully followed, since 1987, the two countries began to increase cooperation in the defense sector.

By the way, India is among the closest allies of America in defense matters.

According to Major General Ashok Mehta, the current relationship between India and America has reached a better position than the friendship of the Indo-Soviet Union of the 1970s. They say that in 1975, only a military training program was conducted between India and the United States, and to date, both countries conduct 300 military exercises together throughout the year.

Major General Ashok Mehta says, "India's relations with the US have improved in defense technology, but there is still a buyer-seller situation between the two countries. No work towards military technology transfer and Make in India Has happened. India should work in this direction during Biden's tenure. "

According to Major Mehta, still 80 percent of India's military equipment is based on the Russian model, imported from Russia, America would like to change this situation. Apart from this, Biden will want a strong India in front of China, so India should insist on the transfer of technology.

According to Arun Kumar Singh, who was India's ambassador to Israel, France, and America, the Biden-Kamala Harris administration's strategy with Pakistan will remain the same as it was during Donald Trump's administration.

Arun Kumar Singh says, "Donald Trump also offered to mediate between India and Pakistan several times, but Biden would not do so because he understood India's position. Biden-Harris's relationship with China would remain the same. The tone would change, as it was in Donald Trump's time. "

According to Arun Singh, 'There is a perception about Russia in America that in 2016, through social media, Russia helped Donald Trump. Biden's relationship with Russia will not be so sweet. Although Trump criticized many European countries, he criticized Nato. But Biden will keep his relationship with Europe better. It is also seen from this that after winning the election, he made the first call to the Premier of Britain, France, and Germany. They will try to take European countries with them against China.

'It will be difficult for Biden with Iran, they will not follow the policies of Donald Trump but will not go back as far as making new agreements. In such a situation, it seems that they will amend the existing agreement itself. Biden Trump will not show as much warmth with Israel.

It is being speculated that Biden will be less strict about visa-related provisions than Donald Trump, that is, the doors of the US will not be closed to skilled and skilled workers. However, this will largely depend on America's domestic circumstances. On 15 August this year, Biden spoke about standing with the Indian Americans.

Arun Kumar Singh says, "It is to be hoped that more Indian Americans will find a place in the Biden-Harris administration."

But amid all this, it is believed that the priority of the Biden and Kamala Harris administrations will be on the diagnosis of the problem of Covid and they will increase cooperation with all the countries of the world including India. He will be focused on creating an effective vaccine alliance. After this, their focus will be on the recovery of the economy and India will have to see its role in it.

However, despite the mutual chemistry between Donald Trump and Narendra Modi, the reality has been that America's relations with India have not progressed much in the matter of trade.

Ronen Sen says, "India will not get FTA or Free Trade Agreement status from America. After being excluded from the list of General System of Preference in June 2019, India may have got a place in the list again but still only 10 percent of what the US imports goods from India is kept in the duty-free category, it needs to be increased.
