New Delhi, March 18 (IANS) An AAP rally scheduled to be held in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh March 23 has been postponed by two days as the city administration did not give permission due to legislative council polls, a party leader said Tuesday.
"The district magistrate rejected our permission for a rally on March 23 as legislative council elections are to take place the same day. The rally will now be held on March 25," an Aam Aadmi Party leader told IANS.
The rally will be addressed by AAP chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Kejriwal, at a rally in Bangalore March 16, had said he was ready to contest against the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi, but would do so only after knowing the response of the people of the Hindu holy city.
