Abhishek Wins POTM Award for the Seventh Time

Following SRH’s victory, Abhishek Sharma was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ title. In his 81st match playing for the team, he claimed the ‘Player of the Match’ honor for the seventh time. Abhishek has now become the Indian player with the most ‘Player of the Match’ awards for SRH. He surpassed the team’s former fast bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Bhuvneshwar Won the Award Six Times

Bhuvneshwar Kumar—who joined the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 2025 IPL season—was a part of SRH from 2014 to 2024 and ranks among the players with the most matches played for the team. Bhuvneshwar played 145 matches for SRH, winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award six times during that period.

This marked Abhishek’s second century while playing for SRH. He has now become the third batsman—after David Warner and Heinrich Klaasen—to score two centuries for the team. In T20 cricket, Abhishek Sharma has set a remarkable record that has left even legendary batsmen in his wake. He has achieved the feat of scoring over 130 runs in a single T20 innings on four occasions—a milestone no other player has reached more frequently. In this regard, he has surpassed even the greatest players in T20 history, Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch, both of whom have scored 130-plus runs in an innings three times each. Furthermore, Abhishek has also completed 350 sixes in T20 cricket.
