The third day of the ongoing rescue operation since the influx near the Amarnath cave on Friday evening passed in despair. Rescue teams searched the drains ranging from debris, water, and snow, but there was no trace anywhere. Being trapped in icy water or debris for such a long time, the chances of survival of someone are becoming less.
A senior official of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said that the army has also deployed state-of-the-art equipment and heavy machinery in the search operation. Wherever the dog squad is indicating, digging is being done. As time goes on, concerns about missing people are also increasing. The way the debris has come in the flood, it is very difficult for the person to be trapped in it for so long. If someone survives then it can only be charisma.
Such charisma is being awaited amid the rescue operation on a war footing. On the third day neither there was any trace of the missing nor anybody was recovered, the official said. Rescue teams are trying their best. According to the official, there is a distinct challenge of bad weather in this entire operation.
From removing several feet thick layer of debris to breaking stones and rocks, the search operation is progressing. The icy water in the drain is also being explored. If there is snow under the bridge, then it is also being checked by breaking it with a cutter. The entire area is also being monitored by drones. Wherever there is a possibility of someone being there, the rescue teams are thoroughly investigating him so that someone's life or any mortal remains can be found.
On the path which is also difficult to walk, the army personnel is dragging the dozer machine weighing three tons by rope. This scene of the Amarnath Yatra route is a hallmark of the struggle going on in the rescue operation. Along with the search for those missing in the inundation, a massive operation is also going on to restore the damaged travel route. According to sources, about eighty percent of the travel track has been restored.
On Sunday, 12 Bravehearts of the Engineering Regiment of the Indian Army pulled the dozer machine for several kilometers with ropes and carried it through a difficult path.
At the same time, troops of other agencies including the army are continuously working to restore the badly damaged Amarnath Yatra route.
The debris is being cut and cleaned with driller machines. The jawans engaged in the ongoing relief and rescue work day and night are also hailing Baba Barfani.
After the flood on Friday, for the second consecutive night on Saturday, the members of the rescue team searched for the missing people and other teams were busy opening the travel route. On Sunday, hundreds of soldiers were engaged in clearing debris with pickaxes and machines near the holy cave.
