Praising religious freedom in India, America has said that India is the world's largest democracy and home to many religions. The US was asked why India has not been included in the list of 'countries of particular concern'. Responding to this, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that India is home to all religions and India cannot be put in countries of special concern or special watch list. The Biden administration will continue to encourage India's commitment to protecting religious freedom for all.
Ned Price said that India and America are two big democratic countries of the world. We have worked together before. By working together, we can continue to show that our democracy can serve the needs of its people. We have to keep respecting human rights like religious freedom, this will make our democracy stronger.
There was pressure to put India's name on the list
He further said that our annual report on international religious freedom includes some of the concerns related to India. We will continue to monitor religious freedom in all countries of the world including India. Let us tell you that before releasing the list of countries with special concerns, organizations like the Indian American Muslim Council had put a lot of pressure to put India's name on the list.
America China, and Pakistan were included in the list
America released a list of 'countries of special concern' a few days ago. Issued under the International Religious Freedom Act, of 1998, this list included countries where there is a serious violation of religious freedom.
