Aryan Khan, who is lodged in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai in the cruise drugs case, may decide on bail today. The hearing in the Bombay High Court has started at 3 pm. Opposing the bail of the accused today, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil Singh will argue on behalf of NCB. ASG Anil Singh, Advocate Shriram Shirsat, and the NCB team are present in the court.
Arguing in the court on behalf of NCB, ASG said that Aryan has been taking regular drugs for the last few years. Records show that they have been providing drugs to many people. From the number of drugs found, it is clear that he has been in contact with drug smugglers.
On Wednesday, the court had said that if the ASG completes the argument in 1 hour, then a decision will be taken in this matter on Thursday itself. Earlier, during the hearing held for two days, the lawyers of Aryan Khan, his friend Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamicha have presented their side.
During the hearing, Aryan Khan's lawyer Mukul Rohatgi said in the court that no reason has been given for Aryan Khan's custody. Along with this, recovery of drugs has not been done from Aryan, so his arrest is completely wrong. During the debate on Tuesday, former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi had argued that Aryan Khan is a young boy, so he should be sent to a correctional home instead of jail.
The decision likely by Friday
Aryan, 23, was arrested on October 3 after NCB officials raided a cruise ship party. At present, Aryan is lodged in Arthur Road Jail with another accused Arbaaz Merchant. While Munmun Dhamicha is in the Byculla Women's Jail. If legal experts are to be believed, then the judge cites paucity of time or taking time to read the evidence and other documents presented. In this case, the decision can be reserved. Now if this happens, then the decision on Aryan's bail can come on Friday.
Aryan will remain in jail till November 15 if bail is not given
If Aryan does not get bail, his judicial custody will increase. There is a court holiday on 30th and 31st October. After this, the Diwali holidays are starting from November 1. Due to this the Bombay High Court will remain closed till November 12. On November 13 and 14, the court will again have a Saturday-Sunday holiday. In this way, the next hearing in the court will be held on November 15 only.
