Thousands of supporters of 'Waris Punjab De' Jathedar Amritpal attacked the Ajnala police station in Punjab on Thursday. Still the police did not take any action. Amritpal is pro-Khalistan. Questions are being raised on the inaction of the police.

SSP Harpal Singh Randhawa said that the attackers had brought swords and guns. He also had Sri Guru Granth Sahib. In such a situation, the soldiers retreated. In the statement given to the TV channel, Randhawa has given this reason for not taking action.

Amritpal Singh was opposing registration of case against his supporter Lovepreet Toofan. He announced the demonstration. After this, Amritpal reached Ajnala police station on Thursday with thousands of his supporters. Eventually the police decided to release Lovepreet Toofan.

1. Police was ready for demonstration, soldiers from 6 districts were deployed in Ajnala

Amritpal Singh had announced protest against the registration of case against his supporter Lovepreet Toofan. Seeing this, the police had full preparation. Police of 6 districts were deployed in Ajnala. Amritpal's supporters were stopped at the bus stand even before reaching the Ajnala police station. Heavy barricading was done by the police. There was a scuffle with Amritpal's supporters but the police did not allow them to proceed further.

2. Amritpal came with Palki Sahib

Jathedar Amritpal entered when the supporters could not cross the barricading. Guru Granth Sahib Ji's form was also there with Amritpal. Seeing this, the policemen also stopped. They tried to stop, but kept on moving out of the way to avoid sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. After this the supporters of Amritpal created a ruckus there. They entered the Ajnala police station with swords and guns. Here they started demanding to leave the storm at the same time. Amritpal said that he would start the langar here itself.

3. After the meeting, the police said, proof of Toofan Singh's innocence, they are releasing him

Amritsar Police Commissioner Jaskaran Singh, SSP Satinder Singh held the meeting. After this closed-door meeting, the police said that sufficient evidence has been given of Toofan Singh's innocence.

The police is letting him go. The work of getting him out of the case will be done according to the process. The police will file a report in the court. With the police filing a cancellation report in the court, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed under the leadership of SP Tejbir Singh Hundal.

Timeline from Toofan's arrest to the attack by Amritpal's supporters, after which Amritpal gave a warning to the police

February 16: Ajnala police station registered a case of abducting and assaulting Varinder Singh of Chamkaur Sahib. The case was against the head of 'Waris Punjab De' organization Amritpal Singh, Lovepreet Singh Toofan and close ones.

February 18: Police arrested Lovepreet Toofan from Gurdaspur. Amritpal warned the Punjab government and the police that he would take action if his accomplice was not released within 24 hours.

February 22: The warning was repeated and Amritpal was instructed to reach Ajnala with his supporters at 11 am on February 23.

23 February: Amritpal supporters started gathering at 10.30 am. The number was less so the police tried to stop. Then Amritpal Singh reached Ajnala from village Jallupur Kheda. In half an hour, the situation became such that the police were attacked with swords. A total of 6 people including a DSP were injured. The police only resorted to batons for rescue. Ajnala police post came under the control of Amritpal and his supporters.

Officer said – If we had used force then the question would have arisen

Police officers are saying that they retreated after seeing the palanquin of Guru Granth Sahib. Couldn't even retaliate. The police never take weapons even to the Gurudwara, because Sri Guru Granth Sahib is kept there. If we had taken action during the attack on the police station, the question would have arisen.
