Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Inaugurated Bridges And Roads: Even though it has been four years since the Doklam dispute, but India is also busy strengthening its infrastructure in the disputed area adjacent to Sikkim, because in Bhutan adjacent to Doklam. China is busy strengthening military preparedness from its new village. This is the reason that on Tuesday, India has prepared a new bridge on Dokla Road in East Sikkim, on which tanks can also run easily. This indigenous bridge built on Flag Hill-Dokla Road is included in the 24 bridges of BRO, which have been inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

On Tuesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 24 bridges prepared by the Border Road Organization (BRO) in the border areas in a re-inauguration ceremony, out of which 16 are in the areas along the China border. Two of these bridges are near DSDBO road in eastern Ladakh and one near Doklam in eastern Sikkim. In Doklam, there was a 73-day-long border dispute between the armies of India and China, while in eastern Ladakh, there is a tussle going on for the last one and a half years.

Class-70 bridge built at an altitude of 11,000 feet - Defense Minister

Addressing the program, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, "About the flag hill Dokla road bridge, I was told that this modular class-70 bridge with 140 feet double lane has been built at an altitude of 11,000 feet." The Defense Minister said, "Earlier, India had to take help from other countries to build such a modular bridge. Different parts of it had to be imported from outside, but today we have become self-sufficient in its construction. BRO, This bridge has been prepared in collaboration with the GRSE company. Tanks and BPM vehicles can be easily crossed on the Class-70 bridge.

India started laying a network of road bridges in Sikkim

Let us tell you that after the Doklam dispute, India started laying a network of roads and bridges in Sikkim. The BRO had started construction of three new roads to reach the disputed Doklam area. This road goes directly to the Dokla Pass (pass) from Kupup adjacent to Baba Harbhajan Temple, close to the highway leading from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, to the Nathula border. It was a raw track before the Doklam controversy. Soldiers used to take the help of foot or mule to reach Doklam from Kupup. It used to take four to five hours to reach Dokala pass from here, but now a paved road has been made here, which passes through Bhimbes, and soldiers can reach the Doklam plateau in just 40 minutes by car. Tanks can also run on this road made of bitumen.

Another new road constructed from Flag-hill in East Sikkim

Apart from the Kupup-Bhimbes access, BRO has also constructed another new road from Flag-Hill in East Sikkim, which reaches Dokla Pass. A lot of work has been completed on this 38 km long strategic road and with the bridge inaugurated on Tuesday, it will be able to start a movement on this road.

Now it takes 40 minutes for Indian soldiers to reach Doklam

Apart from this, BRO has also started work on Zuluk Access adjacent to the border of West Bengal and Sikkim. This road will come in handy at a time when the road from Siliguri to Gangtok will be closed due to rain or landslide. This road, about 87 km long, will reach Kupup via Rishi and Rongali. This road is being made double lane. Now it takes only 40 minutes for Indian soldiers to reach Doklam, whereas earlier it used to take 4-5 hours to reach Doklam, that too on foot or a mule.

China tried to build a road in Doklam through Chumbi Valley

Let us inform that for the Indian Army, the Dokla Pass at an altitude of 13 thousand feet is the only way to reach the Doklam Plateau. About four years ago i.e. on June 16, 2017, China tried to build a road through Chumbi Valley in Doklam. China aimed to build this road to Bhutan's Jamferi Ridge so that China could keep a watch on India's very sensitive Siliguri Corridor, but Indian soldiers stationed at Dokla Pass objected to this road of China moving beyond Torsa Nala. After which there was a 72-day long faceoff between the armies of both the countries. The Chinese army finally withdrew and did not even build a road. The Indian Army had launched an operation for Doklam, whose codename was Juniper.

Indian Army had problems in reaching Doklam

However, during the mobilization (of soldiers) in Doklam, the Indian Army had a lot of difficulty in reaching Doklam. Therefore, after the end of the faceoff, India had entrusted the responsibility of building three new roads to the Dokla Pass to the BRO. One of these roads is in Demchok, adjacent to eastern Ladakh.
