Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat has said that China has become the biggest threat to India's security and the withdrawal of thousands of troops and weapons sent along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) will not be possible for a long time.
General Rawat said on Thursday that "lack of trust" and "doubt" hinder efforts to resolve the border dispute between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Since last year, amidst tensions on the LAC, both countries are engaged in increasing the arms along the border with the soldiers. The CDS also expressed concern about the possible impact of the Taliban occupation in Afghanistan on India and said that it could be an attempt to promote terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. General Rawat said security issues involving Pakistan with hostile China and the Taliban have made it necessary for the Indian Army to reorganize theater commands along the northern and western borders.
