In the US, children between 12 and 15 years of age will also be given Pfizer's Corona vaccine. The aim is to provide complete protection to middle and high school students from infection before sending them to the classroom. In India too, the board exam was canceled due to the second wave of the Coronavirus, while the date of the 12th exam was postponed. In such a situation, the question arises that even in India, will the children consider getting them vaccinated to take them back to school?
First, it is important to understand why the corona vaccine is not being administered to children. Is it not suitable for children or is there a problem of availability of vaccine? Or is there some other reason? It should be noted that Oxford University and AstraZeneca's Covishield, Bharat Biotech's Cocaine, Pfizer's Vaccine, Moderna's Vaccine, Sputnik's Vaccine, etc. are being prominently placed all over the world. All these vaccines were tested on young and old people only. For this reason, vaccination campaigns started in the countries and the elderly only among the youth in the world.
12-year-olds have already started getting vaccinated in Canada
However, after covering the elderly in countries like Canada, America, England, now the governments of that place have turned their eyes towards children. In many countries teenagers, up to 16 years of age are being administered the Pfizer vaccine. Canada has also started vaccinating 12-year-old children. Parents, teachers and educational organizations are also concerned with the deteriorating education of children in the Corona period. Everyone wants the children to be given a protective shield against Corona so that they can return to their classes as soon as possible.
India is struggling with the lack of vaccine
If we talk about India, then there is a crisis of vaccine availability. While Canada has nine times its population, the UK has purchased 7 times while the US has bought 4 times the vaccine. Talking about India, America is the only country that has bought more vaccines than India in terms of quantity. Since India is almost four times more than the US in terms of population, only 0.2 vaccine is available in India in terms of per capita. However, the work of vaccine production is in full swing as a need is felt to increase the pace of the vaccination campaign.
Vaccine production being increased continuously in India
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today raised the issue of vaccine deficiency and said that the Corona vaccine should be made in all vaccine-producing companies of the country. He asked the central government to take the vaccine formulas from Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech and share it with the rest of the vaccine-producing companies to increase vaccine production on a large scale.
Focus on adult vaccination at present in the country
In such a situation, it is clear that in India, attention is not being paid to children because, at present, the adequate vaccine is not available for people above 18 years of age. Keep in mind that only Covishield and Covaxin vaccines are being produced in India. Russia's Sputnik vaccine has also arrived, but the work of applying it has not started yet. In such a situation, there is a demand for recognition of vaccines of other companies including Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in India.
Pfizer and Moderna have started the trial on children
As far as the vaccine is concerned, it is not just Pfizer, but Moderna has also started trials in children. Moderna has said that she has tried her vaccine in 12 to 17-year-olds with no side effects. Another company, Novavax, has also started studying children of this age group.
AstraZeneca is also conducting trials in Britain on 6-17-year-olds
On the other hand, these companies are now eyeing children below 12 years. Both Pfizer and Moderna are planning to study the effects of the vaccine on children between six months and 11 years old. AstraZeneca is doing the same experiment on children aged 6 to 17 in the UK. Chinese company Sinovac has said that its vaccine is also effective on children up to three years old and has no side effects.
Have to take care of the children
Experts say that if the target is to immunize 70 to 85 percent of the total population against the coronavirus, then children will also have to be included in the vaccination campaign. By the way, very serious results of the coronavirus are not being seen in children till now. Coronavirus cases have been found in about 14 percent of children in the US.
