The corona epidemic that began in China in 2019 is wreaking havoc worldwide. Where this virus came from, even after more than a year has passed, it remains a mystery. In this regard, a group of the world's top scientists says that the theory of coronavirus spreading from a lab should be taken seriously until it is proven wrong.
Still need more investigation
Corona, spread across the world from Wuhan city of China, has killed more than 3 million people so far, while more than 16.5 million people have been affected. The team of the world's top scientists includes a total of 18 people, who have shared important information about the virus.
The team also includes clinical microbiologist Ravindra Gupta at Cambridge University, Jesse Bloom studying the Evolution of Viruses at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. They say that more investigation is still needed to arrive at a final decision on the origin of the epidemic.
WHO ignores many factors?
Scientists, including professor of microbiology at Stanford, David Railman, said in the Science Journal that the theory of the virus's sudden exit from both a lab and a genetic spillover cannot be dismissed. He said that the World Health Organization (WHO) investigation in connection with the origin of the virus did not properly consider that it could also come out of the lab.
WHO team was in China for 4 weeks
Earlier, the WHO team wrote in their report that the virus may have come from bats into humans. However, the theory coming out of the lab is not feared. The WHO team conducted investigations in Wuhan and its surrounding areas for 4 weeks in January and February.
Asian countries protest unfortunately
The team of top scientists told that we should take the theory of coming out from both natural and lab till we get enough data. In some countries, there is a sense of protest against Asian countries. This is quite unfortunate. We should also note that Chinese doctors, scientists, journalists, and citizens were the ones who shared important information about the virus with the world at the beginning of the epidemic, and that too at great personal cost.
