Country's first driverless metro: Modi launches automated metro in Delhi; 2 trains will automatically stop when they come on a track

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the country's first driverless metro train through video conferencing in Delhi. The facility has been started on the 37 km long magenta line of the metro from Janakpuri West to the Botanical Garden. With this, people will get a new experience of travel in the metro, it will also be safe. Its system is such that if two trains come on one track, they will stop automatically.

Inaugurating this, Modi said that he had the privilege of inaugurating the Magenta Line 3 years ago. Today again got the privilege of inaugurating a fully automated Metro on this line. It shows how fast the country is moving forward.

5 important things of Modi's speech

1. Metro targets in more than 25 cities by 2025

Modi said that the first metro in Delhi was run by Atalji's efforts. When our government was formed in 2014, only 5 cities had metro rail. Today, this service is available in 18 cities. We will expand to more than 25 cities by 2025. The metro extends over 700 km. We are considering expanding it to 1700 km in 2025. Now 2.5 million people ride by metro every day. This is proof of the ease of living. These are evidence of the country's middle-class dreams being fulfilled.

2. Earlier announcements were made, we made a policy

Bureaucracy is the same, all the same, but the work is done fast. We saw the opportunity because of it. Earlier only announcements were made. We made a policy and implemented a strategy for the metro. Emphasis on modern technology, promoting local standards.

3. Way to reduce metro pollution

We noted that the metro should expand according to the lifestyle there. It is being done differently in every city. Where the passenger numbers are less, work is being done on the metro lights. Where there is a water body, work is being done on the water metro. Today, the metro is not only full of convenience, it is also a means of reducing pollution. Due to this many vehicles have been reduced from the road.

4. Self-reliant India campaign also helped

Now only four big companies in the country are working on metro coaches. This is helping the self-sufficient India campaign. I just had the privilege of inaugurating the unmanned metro. Our country has joined the select countries of the world where this facility is there.

5. Agricultural reforms led to One Nation, One Agriculture Market direction

Like the One Nation-One mobility card, the government has done many things to integrate the systems. An unnecessary stoppage on the highway is closed. Many taxes were abolished by the One Nation-One Tax. One Nation-One Power Grid reduced power loss. One Nation - One Health Nation Scheme i.e. Ayushman Bharat Scheme can be treated anywhere. Similarly, the country is moving in the direction of the One Nation-One Agriculture market with new agricultural reforms.

3 key features of driverless metro

1. Its system is so safe that if two metros come on the same track, it will automatically stop at a distance.

2. During the journey in the metro, many times the experience of a jerk will not be in a driverless train.

3. Passengers will not face any problem while boarding the train.

How does its system work?

The journey of the driverless metro is equipped with a communication-based train control signaling system (CBTC).

This system acts like a Wi-Fi. It gives a signal to the Metro from which it operates.

Receivers on the metro train push the metro forward upon receiving the signal. This system is used in many metros abroad.

Later, the entire third phase of the metro will run on all lines

According to DMRC Executive Director (Communication), Anuj Dayal, the driverless metro will be launched on the 57 km long Pink Line after the Magenta Line. He informed that when the Pink and Magenta lines were built, they were equipped with a communication-based train control signaling system.

Automated metro trains running in 46 cities of the world

According to The International Association of Public Transport (UITP), by 2019, 64 automated metro trains were running in 46 cities of the world. The world's first driverless metro was launched in 1981 in Cobb City, Japan.

National Common Mobility Card launched

Modi also introduced the National Common Mobility Card to be fully operated on the Airport Metro. In the last one and a half years, any person will be able to travel on the Airport Express line through this card with a RuPay Debit Card issued by 23 banks. This facility will be available on the entire Delhi Metro network by 2022. After this, passengers will be able to travel in the metro with a smart card as well as a debit card.
