New Delhi, April 17 (IANS) A court here Thursday asked Delhi Police to file a status report on an FIR registered against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and his wife Anamika, booked for demanding Rs.2 crore for campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.
"Let the concerned IO (Investigating Officer) be called to appear in person qua the status of investigation for May 17," Metropolitan Magistrate Dheeraj Mittal said.
The court order came after the police filed the compliance report on the court's order directing it to register a case against the MP and his wife.
The court April 3 directed officer of Tughlaq Road police station here to "register an FIR and investigate the matter, as per law".
The police told court it registered the case against the duo under various sections dealing with voluntarily causing hurt, extortion, criminal intimidation, house-trespass and criminal conspiracy, and the investigation is on.
The court has made it clear that registration of an FIR, "does not imply that the police will immediately arrest the accused persons".
The court order came on a plea filed by Delhi-based Sandeep Sharma, who alleged that Nishikant Dubey, the Lok Sabha MP from Godda in Jharkhand, and his wife Anamika had November 19, 2013 forcibly entered his house at Golf Links here and demanded Rs.2 crore for the BJP leader's "political ambitions".
Sharma also alleged that both of them rained "slaps and blows" on him that resulted in injuries.
