Lucknow, April 9 (IANS) A rape victim, tormented because her attackers have not been arrested days after she lodged a police complaint, consumed poison at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's Tuesday election rally venue.
The incident took place in Bijnor, when the woman was trying to reach out to the chief minister, but was stopped by the security personnel.
"The girl consumed some poisonous substance and has been taken to a hospital," an official told IANS.
The condition of the girl is serious.
The woman is from Noorpur village and had also staged a sit-in at the district magistrate's office a few days back demanding action against her assailants.
