New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) The national capital is likely to witness a voter turnout of around 72 percent in Saturday's assembly poll, an Assocham survey projected Friday.
According to the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) survey, an increase of about five percent over the December 2013 polls is likely due to the fact that the voters want a stable government and not a hung house again.
The last assembly elections had thrown up a fractured mandate with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning 31 seats and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bagging 28 seats in the 70-member house.
Voter turnout in Delhi may rise by about five percent this time round, up from 66 per cent voter turnout recorded in 2013, as majority of Delhiites wish for a stable government," D.S. Rawat, Assocham secretary general, said.
Voters in north, east and west Delhi are most enthusiastic about exercising their voting right as against those in south Delhi, the survey highlighted.
However, about 15 percent of the respondents said they plan to make most of the weekend and have planned an outing with the family.
The survey was conducted in all the 70-seats of Delhi and around 7000 eligible voters (100 in each constituency) including equal number of both men and women were interviewed.
