Chennai, March 26 (IANS) DMK president M. Karunanidhi Wednesday said his party will extend support to the Congress to form a secular government at the centre even though the party was an "ungrateful" ally.
Kick-starting his election campaign here, Karunanidhi said the Congress was down in many states as it was an ungrateful party and its cadres did not know what gratitude meant.
He said that in order to form a secular government at the centre, the DMK would forgive the Congress and extend support.
The DMK had earlier refused to align with the Congress, forcing the latter to go it alone in the general election.
Karunanidhi said the DMK was willing to extend support to keep communal forces at bay, and not with a view to get votes.
