Foreign Minister Jaishankar's criticism of the issue of buying oil from Russia, said - the interest of the Indian people is paramount

Concerning buying oil from Russia, India has once again made it clear that it will take any decision in this regard by giving paramount importance to the interests of the Indian people. While stating India's foreign policy in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will do it keeping in mind the interests of the Indian people, be it buying fuel or fertilizer.

Will not let the people of our country bear the brunt of the mistakes of other countries

According to Jaishankar, "It is our duty not to let the mistakes of other countries fall on the people of our country concerning food, fuel, or fertilizer prices." Along with this, the Foreign Minister, while describing the relations with China as abnormal, said bluntly that, our view is clear that China cannot arbitrarily change the de facto border line (LAC).

depends a lot on the market

On setting a ceiling on the price of crude oil produced from Russia by the G-7 countries, Jaishankar said, "It is not yet clear what effect it will have on India." The government is keeping a close watch. India's main concern is about the availability of energy and its prices. The government does not ask its companies to buy oil from Russia but asks them to buy oil from wherever they get it at the cheapest price. Now a lot depends on the market. We do not buy oil from just one country but from many countries. But it is prudent to buy from where you get the best price.

Relations with China are not normal

This statement of the Foreign Minister comes when the latest figures are showing that in November 2022, for the second consecutive month, India remains the largest oil-buying country from Russia. America and European countries are constantly pressurizing India to reduce oil purchases from Russia. Regarding China, the Foreign Minister said that India's relations with it cannot be called normal right now. He said that diplomatically it has been made clear to China that it cannot arbitrarily change the LAC, it cannot be accepted. Till such time they do or use the power which gives rise to serious concern for the boundary of our association then our relationship cannot be called normal.

Talks are going on between the armies of the two countries.

The Foreign Minister further said that our relations have not been normal for the last few years. Talks are going on between the armies of the two countries regarding the situation on the border. Describing relations with China as more sensitive, he did not say anything further. Regarding the annual meeting of G-20 countries being led by India, Jaishankar said that this will be an opportunity when India will show its achievements in its development, democracy, and diversity (3D). This event can be made successful only by the joint efforts of every Indian.

Trying to find a consensus solution to world issues

He said that India will try to find a consensus solution to the current problems facing the world. Rejecting the view that so far the activities of the Ministry of External Affairs are related to the interests of a particular section, Jaishankar said that the Ministry of External Affairs affects the everyday life of every Indian. Whether it is to make Indian products available in the global market to provide foreign workplace employment to Indian youth or to bring technology or foreign investment, the efforts of the Ministry of External Affairs are visible.
