Former Goa Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar's son Utpal Parrikar is contesting as an independent from Panaji. Utpal Parrikar is going door-to-door asking for votes. Meanwhile, the son of former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar gave a big statement on contesting the elections. In a conversation with ANI, he said that the circumstances were such, due to which he was forced to decide to contest from Panaji as an independent candidate. Utpal said that I will try to meet every person in Panaji, and I want to give a good option to the people.

Utpal Parrikar, son of former CM late Manohar Parrikar, has filed his nomination from the Panaji assembly seat. Utpal is contesting from Panaji as an independent candidate. Before filing his papers on Thursday, he offered prayers at the Mahalaxmi temple in Panaji. On this occasion, he said, 'I have come here to seek God's blessings, I am hopeful and confident that the people of Panaji will give me their blessings. The work that my father did here, I have to do the same work for the people here. The people of Panaji will vote for the future here.

It is noteworthy that Utpal Parrikar had resigned from the BJP after he was denied a ticket from Panaji. He had announced to contest the election as an independent candidate. However, after Utpal Parrikar's rebellious stand, the BJP tried to persuade him. BJP general secretary C.T. Ravi had requested him to reconsider his decision and fulfill his father's dream.

Let us inform you that BJP had offered Utpal Parrikar to contest on two seats. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said in this regard that the party's national leader is in touch with Utpal.
